Time for change.

What a historic day. There is no doubt that President Obama's inauguration will be long remembered and celebrated, but at some point the honeymoon will end and life will once again reclaim its throne in our lives.
Let me get right to the point: If we are expecting President Obama to be the change we need in the world we are at best naive and at worst lazy. There is one role that Obama has and he has played that role perfectly to this point, he has been a catalyst to awaken the United States. He has somehow managed to get the public to put their hope and trust back in the US government. He has restored confidence that change can come. So where is the rub? It is in the fact that true change can only come from the bottom up, not the top down. To quote Gandhi "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." If we truly want change, we must be changed.

We must exchange our rugged individualism for comcern for our neighbors.
We must exchnage laziness for action.
We must exchange passivity for involvement.
We must exchange doubt for hope.
We must exchange the pursuit of happiness for the pursuit of virtue.
We must exchange tolerance for love.

The road to change is difficult because it runs through the middle of every man's heart.

What will you do this year to make a change? As for me and my house, we will...
